He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Bentel and June Bentel (Madsen); his brother-in-law Ray Kerby; his nephew Adolph Kerby; and his friend Tony Jones.
He is survived by: his former wife Connie Lucht (Reese); his sons, Brian Bentel (Akiko), Daniel Bentel (Tonya), Scottsdale, Ariz and Nicholas Bentel; his stepsons, Mark Pavey (Diane), Rancho Cucamonga, Calif and Aaron Lucht; and his siblings, Judy Kerby, Wis, Candace Brownlee (Jim) of Golf Breeze, Fla., Steve Bentel (Patti) and Fred Bentel (Mary). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
