It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas VanEtten (Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin), who passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his husband Robert VanEtten; his parents, Theodore and Mary Strong (Crueger); his aunt Irene Haka; and his siblings, Marlene Strong (Rinaldi), Bert "BJ" Strong and Michael Strong.
He is survived by: his brother Ted Strong (Christa) of Plover, WI; his niece Meredith Myshka (John) of Wausau, WI; his sister-in-law Diane Strong (late Michael) of Plover, WI; his nephew Michael Strong (Jodi) of Plover, WI; his siblings, Pat Strong of Stevens Point, WI and Mary Repinski of Greenfield, WI.; his nieces, Jill Tomczak (Jeff) of West Allis and Joanne Jones (Blake) of Kesheena; and his nephew John Repinski (Chloe) of Oak Creek.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials or donations can be made to a fund that will support the local recovery community and LGBTQ+ organizations in Tommy's honor.
