He was predeceased by: his parents, Auke Douma and Evelynn Douma; and his brothers, Larry, Glen and Leon.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Douma of Wyeville; his sons, Benjamin Douma (Erin) and Matthew Douma (Crystal); his stepchildren, Shawn Rumpel and Shannon Gray (Gabe); his grandchildren, Cole Douma, Wilder Douma, Douglas Rumpel, Thomas Rumpel, Elizabeth Rumpel, Austin Gray and Coltin Gray; and his siblings, Darrel, Diane, Marla, Wanda, Brenda and Jana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
