He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Melton and Betty Brown Melton; his parents-in-law, Dolin Kirby and Faye Kirby; his sisters-in-law, Katy Melton and Maria Melton; and his brothers, Roger Melton and Robert Melton.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Kirby Melton; his daughters, Betty Lynn Rice (Clay), Shannon Stiles and Cynthia Rose (Thomas); his stepchildren, Anthony Bowden and Amanda Wheeler (Shane); his brothers, Rick Melton and Randy Melton; his sister-in-law Pat Melton; and his close friend Joe Jarvis. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the West Virginia Building West Virginia (947 Maplewood Ave, Lewisburg, WV 24901). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
