He was predeceased by : his parents, George W. Lucas and Evelyn Mae Lucas. He is survived by : his wife Rosie Jane Lucas; his grandchildren, Hope JoEllen Faith Brown and Jayden James Gabriel Brown; his daughter Deborah Naoma Pettry (William) of Beckley; and his siblings, Frank Lucas of Shade Creek, William Lucas (Barbara) of Shade Creek, Fred Lucas (Carla) of Shade Creek and Patricia Niday (Bill) of Shade Creek. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ansted Chapel (74 Holley St, Ansted, WV 25812). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
