He was predeceased by: his parents, Burnette S. McDowell and Mary E. Lipps McDowell; and his siblings, Richard McDowell, Bob McDowell, James McDowell, Emma Susan McDowell, Alice Morgan, Ruth Honaker and Elizabeth "Peggy" Honaker.
He is survived by: his wife Anna A. Boggs McDowell; his children, Eddie McDowell (Terri) and Janet King (Kent); his grandchildren, Jonathan McDowell (Elizabeth), Rebekah McDowell, Krista King, Emily Hinkle (Anthony) and Jarrod King (Dee); and his great grandchildren, Jude Henry McDowell, Charlee Mae McDowell and Hattie Ann King. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Peyton Hospice House, 1265.
