With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William John Ofsa of Athens, West Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 4, 2025 at the age of 96. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of William John Ofsa to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Elizabeth Marsh Ofsa and Isadore Ofsa. He is survived by: his brother Jack; his wife Sharon Cheatwood Ofsa; his children, Dr. David Ofsa (Lynn), William M. Ofsa (Vicki), Robi Ofsa (Susan Boyd) and Mary Helen Dennis (David); his stepdaughter Elizabeth Ann Kauff; his grandchildren, Gabriel Ofsa, Jessica Woolwinr (Kelley), Max Ofsa (Jessica), Anna Anderson (Bryan), Emily Ofsa, Tyler Erickson, Elias Ofsa (Melissa), Andrew Ofsa (Catie) and Jordan Farley; his stepgrandchildren, Anna Hill and Jacob Hill; and his sisters-in-law, Sammy (Brenda Cheatwood) and Shirley Ofsa. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, brother.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Seaver Funeral Home & Cremation Service (1507 N Walker St, Princeton, WV 24740). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at the Elgood Cemetery. He taught at Concord until 2021 when he retired after being hospitalized for COVID-19.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions be made to Concord University or Mountain View Community Church in Elgood.
