He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Price Oates and Alma Oates (Shingleton); his wife Patricia Oates; his daughter Tricia Oates Lee; and his sister Virginia.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Ranel (Leroy) of Dacula, GA, Denise Hott (Eric) of Augusta, WV and Jill Myers (Dale) of Augusta, WV; his son-in-law Jamie Lee; and his siblings, Donna Jean Hott Augusta (Benjie) and Roy Glenn Oates (Kim) of Augusta. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the McKee Funeral Home - Augusta. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Covenant Baptist Church (22554 Northwestern Turnpike, Romney, WV 26757).
