He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Dewey Smith, Sr. and Ada McFillan Smith; his granddaughters, Candice Nicole LeDane and Hope Alexandra LeDane; and his brother Larry.
He is survived by: his daughters, Penny Smith (Allen) and Saunny Rife Winstead (Brian Franks); his grandson Tayler Winstead (Heather); and his siblings, Mildred Taylor and John Smith (Sherry Smith). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
