Roger Lee Sirbaugh Sr. Obituary
Roger Lee Sirbaugh Sr., born November 18, 1946, in Cumberland, MD, entered into the presence of his Savior on April 19, 2026, at the age of 79.
He was the son of the late Raymond E. Sirbaugh Sr. and Rose Anna (Ullery) Sirbaugh. Roger lived a life marked by a constant love for his family, a support of strong American values, and an acknowledgment of God’s goodness through every season of life.
He served in the United States Army from 1966 until he was honorably discharged on March 6, 1972. He rapidly advanced in rank, going from a Private E-1 to a Private E-5. He received the National Defense Service Medal (Good Conduct Medal) and the Expert Badge (Rifle M-14). He was stationed in Thailand during active duty in the Vietnam War.
On March 13, 1971, he married the love of his life, Vicki D. Sirbaugh. Together they shared 47 years of marriage until her passing on December 9, 2018—a lasting testimony of commitment and love.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Roger L. Sirbaugh Jr. (1973); his brother, Raymond E. Sirbaugh Jr. (“Bud”); and his sister, Caron Hott.
He is survived by his children: Christopher R. Sirbaugh and wife Johanna of Buffalo Mills, PA; Holly Abrell and husband Orren Sr. of Paw Paw, WV; and Ashley Miller of Paw Paw, WV. He is also survived by his siblings, Diana Day of Great Cacapon and Robin Inskeep and her husband Howard of Hyndman, PA.
He was a proud grandfather to Haley and husband Brian, Orren Jr. and wife Hannah, Matthew, Joses, and Eran, and a great-grandfather to Kinsley, Bryson, Brantley, and OakLynn. He took great joy in each of them—joking, laughing, and staying involved in their lives through various activities.
Roger was a 1964 graduate of Allegheny High School in Cumberland, MD. He worked at Federal Mogul (Abex) for 38 years and provided faithfully for his family over the years. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, camping, and telling stories—many stories!
In his later years, Roger’s faith became more evident as he openly acknowledged that Christ is Lord and believed strongly in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as it is written in Scripture: “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).
While his family deeply feels his absence, they rest in the promise that those who trust in Christ will be reunited again. His life, though simple in many ways, pointed to a greater hope beyond this world.
There will be a private interment at Woodrow Cemetery in Paw Paw, WV.
In the words he often said, “I’ll see you the next time I look at ya.”
