She was predeceased by: her parents, Denver Dangerfield and Margie Dangerfield; and her sister Marietta Hungate (late John Paul Carter). She is survived by: her husband Lester Ashby; her daughter Alice Cooper (Steve); her grandchildren, Sara Williams (Josh) and John Cooper (Katy); her stepchildren, Karla Ashby and Kevin Ashby; her great grandchildren, Madison, Tayley, Ava, Laci Williams, Maleiah, Kolsen Ashby, Landon and Raylee Cooper; and her sisters, Barbara Shiflett (Robert) and Helen "Spanky" McKinney. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House in Joan's loving and wonderful memory.
