He was predeceased by : his father John David Phillips; his stepfather John Barnett; and his brother-in-law Carl Rose. He is survived by : his wife Tammy Lynn Phillips; his children, Boyd Meadows (Makayla) and Haley Atkins (Preston Teter) of Belle; his mother Margaret Barnett of Dunbar; his sisters, Terry Tignor (Ronnie) of Pinch, Becky Rose of Cross Lanes and Brandi Medley (Greg) of Nitro; and his grandchildren, Aiden, Addison, Ali and Adrian Meadows.

A memorial service was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Springfork Missionary Baptist Church (320 Campbells Creek Dr, Charleston, WV 25306).
