He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Ann Bowles; his son Jerry Leonard Bowles; his granddaughter Katie Bowles; and his parents, John W. Bowles and Bertie O. Wright Bowles.
He is survived by: his children, Russell Bowles Jr. (Linda) of Elyria, Ohio, Gloria Cooper (Jim) of Parma, Susan Burruss of Charleston and Nancy Perry (Earl) of Campbells Creek. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
