He was predeceased by: his mother Margaret L. Walter. He is survived by: his father Fred D. Walter Jr.; his sister Carolyn "Sissy" Pope; his sons, Gary L. Walter Jr. and Paul Hipsley; and his siblings, Valerie Walter, Fred D. Walter III, Johnnie Walter, Danny Walter and Bernie Walter. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
