He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy R. Whitacre and Ivy V. Whitacre; and his siblings, Roy Whitacre, Jr., Allen Whitacre, Ricky Whitacre, Debra Puffinberger and Dorleen Whitacre.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Hite Whitacre; his children, Paul P. Whitacre (Carolyn) of Bloomery, WV and Julie W. Omps (Rodney) of Temecula, CA; his sister Patty Whitacre of Whiteville, NC; his grandchildren, Katherine E. Mitchell (Joee), Morgan R. Omps and Charles P. Whitacre; and his great grandchildren, Myles Gibson Whitacre and Lily Marie Mitchell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory (2807 Northwestern Turnpike, Capon Bridge, WV 26711). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
