He was predeceased by : his parents, Dewey Sawyers and Vicey Bentley Sawyers; and his siblings, Jimmy, Roger, Larry Sawyers, Mary Lovell and Elsie Thomas.

He is survived by : his children, Justin Zipp of Detroit, MI and Amanda Zipp; his siblings, Eddie Sawyers (Sue) of Max Meadows, VA, Nancy Dillow (Tommy) of Bluefield, WV and Janice Boyd (Michael) of Falls Mills, VA.; and his nephew Larry Sawyers, Jr. of Bluefield, VA.
