She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Pietro DeMarchi and Mary DeMarchi; her husband George Shumate; her children, Sabrina, Denise, Keith and Janine; her grandchildren, Erica Simpkins, Matthew Morris, Brock Hopper, Luke Morris and Wyatt Shumate; and her great grandchildren, Makynzie Hopper, Eban Morris and Marcus Morris.
To honor Virginia's love for children, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
