In loving memory of Virginia Shumate (Bluefield, West Virginia), who departed this world on July 17, 2025 at the age of 87. Virginia leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Pietro DeMarchi and Mary DeMarchi; her husband George Shumate; her children, Sabrina, Denise, Keith and Janine; her grandchildren, Erica Simpkins, Matthew Morris, Brock Hopper, Luke Morris and Wyatt Shumate; and her great grandchildren, Makynzie Hopper, Eban Morris and Marcus Morris.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home (3431 Coal Heritage Rd, Bluefield, WV 24701). A wake will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1003 Wyoming St, Bluefield, WV 24701).
To honor Virginia's love for children, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
