He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James and Barbara Jean Benya (Ray); his son George Ernest Benya, Jr.; and his grandsons, Dylan Anthony Smith and Wyatt Anthony Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Meredith Gayle Smith (Anthony) and Robert Gerald Benya (Tammy); his grandson Taylor Anthony Smith; and his brothers, James Robert Benya and Ray William Benya. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
