He is survived by: his wife Margaret McCartney; his son William "Billy" McCartney Jr. (Christie); his grandchildren, Katie Reese McCartney, Kinley McCartney and Kellen McCartney; his sister Linda McCartney Harris; and his sister-in-law Barbara Utter. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Harrison County Humane Society, P.O. Box 4397, Clarksburg, WV 26302.
