He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Darnell and Sarah Hazel Myers Darnell; his wife Doris Darnell; his siblings, Mable Zinn, Edna Smith, Alvira Smith, Jessie Darnell, Eston Darnell and Robert Darnell; his children, Donald Darnell (Duck) and Sherry Stanley; his stepson Scott Cobb; his grandson Damein Bissett; and his great grandchildren, Daniel Swearinger, Skyler Bissett and Bentlee Myers Bissett.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Thomas Newman (Brenda Newman), Janet Lute (Ken Lute), Betty Darnell, William Darnell (Rose Strobel) and Becky Cobb (Mike Kelly); the mother of his children Janice E. Darnell; and his stepchildren, Deborah, Larry Baber, Dale, Belinda Cobb, Dean and Dedra Cobb.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Moriah Church (18303 Brandonville Pike, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
