He was predeceased by: his parents, R. L. "Bud" Sumner and Dorothy Mae Sumner. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Steven Sumner of Queensbury, NY, David Carl Sumner of Chattanooga, TN and Michael Alan Sumner of Cary, NC; and his sisters, Donna Sumner Fadal and Carole Sumner Barone.
