He was predeceased by: his parents, Freddie W. Kasten and Dolores Dawn Ogden Kasten; his son Daniel Joseph "D. J." Kasten; his sister Anna Kasten; and his brother-in-law David Leigh.
He is survived by: his sisters, Kathy Leigh of Buckhannon and Margy Grenz (Donovan) of Buckhannon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
