He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Jean Heckert (Ellifritz) and James A. Heckert; his son Timothy "TJ" Clayton; his sister Tammy Splawn; and his parents-in-law, Betty Lou "Butch" and Stephen C. Hartman.
He is survived by: his wife Denise Dawn Clayton; his children, Dea R. Clayton of Burlington and Christopher A. Clayton (Lisa) of Burlington; his siblings, Jim Clayton (Diana), Steve Clayton (Tweet), Lynette Buckley (Randy) of Romney, WV and E'Lese Crouch of Tybee Island, GA; and his granddaughter Anaya Jean Clayton of Burlington. He is also survived by many many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
The family ask in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to Smith Funeral Home.
