He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Wendt and Mary Earnest Wendt; and his former wife Eldora Woodruff Wendt. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Mercer Wood Wendt; his children, Marilyn Horacek (Louis) of Moundsville, W. V. and Donald R. Wendt of Somerset; his siblings, Mary Evelyn Garey (Paul) and Charles Wendt (Daisy) of Moundsville, W. V.; his stepchildren, Cheryl Schefsky (David), Lisa Garrison (Mathew), Donald Wood Jr. of Moundsville, W. V. and Raymond Joseph Wood (Dawna) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; his granddaughters, Libby, Caroline Horacek and Samantha Wilson (Albert); and his stepgrandchildren, Donald, Amber, Keith, Kyle (Erin), Alex (Jackie), Tyler and Trevor. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and some cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 26th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the BIG Run Christian Church (7208 Dragon Hwy, Cameron, WV 26033).
