He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lacy Cales and Euna Alice Richmond; and his siblings, Earnest "Bud" Cales, Barbara Cales Patterson and Vernon Dale Cales.
He is survived by: his wife Vella "Ann" Hicks Cales; his daughter Teresa Cales Matthews (Ron); his granddaughters, Heather Nicole Rogers (Tony) and Macey Ann Matthews; his great grandchildren, Kaia Collins, Chase Collins, Bradun Rogers and Everleigh Rogers; and his siblings, Mildred Cales Bennett and James Buford Cales. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and his best friend.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services (1900 Vanstory St, Greensboro, NC 27403). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Tempa Baptist Church.
