He was predeceased by: his parents, Osdell Slater and Peggy Slater; and his siblings, Flora Myers, Charles and Junior Slater.
He is survived by: his children, Bobby Eugene Slater of Charleston, James Edward Osdell Slater and Wanda May Paul of Charleston; and his siblings, Blaine Slater, Gloria Pauley of Charleston and Faye Carr of Big Chimney. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
