Janice Downey Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janice Downey of Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Basham and Margaret Basham of East Bank; her husband William Albert Downey of Charleston; her brother Lonnie Basham of East Bank; and her brother-in-law Bill Pomeroy of Belle.
She is survived by: her sons, Bill Downey (Suzanne) of St. Augustine and David Downey of Charleston; her sister Phyllis Pomeroy (late Bill) of Belle; her sister-in-law Kay Basham of East Bank; and her grandchildren, Zach (Brittany), Cody (Kristin) and Madison (Ryan). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Rensford Baptist Church (1792 Point Lick Dr, Charleston, WV 25306).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rensford Baptist Church, care of Pastor Dana Clay.
