He was predeceased by : his parents, Frank Johnson and Margaret Johnson; his caregiver Heliene Lombard; his wife Claire Johnson; his children, Dorothy Johnson Scheiman (David Scheiman) and Joseph Johnson; and his siblings, Mary Ann Iverson (Merlin Iverson), Mark Lawrence Johnson (Jean Johnson), Frank Gordon Johnson (Jan Johnson) and Kathryn Johnson Straine (Fred Straine).
He is survived by : his close friend Claire Elaine Campbell; his children, Kathy, Joe, Mary Johnson (Lucas Lund), Kathryn Johnson (Carl Offutt), Cynthia Joy (Corwin Joy), Margaret Johnson (Murat Cil) and Samira Heather Johnson (Stefan Fuegi); his sister Heliene Houdek (Gary Houdek); his grandchildren, Jenny Hock, Jon Hock (Alyssa Hock), Isaac Fuegi, Gabriel Joy, Noah Cil, Sarah Cil and Ethan Joy; and also, Mary (John) and Jenny.
John was inclusive and creative, never limited by the "normal" way of doing things, and he helped grow Helena Labs into a global leader in its field, making particular contributions to the diagnosis of sickle cell anemia.
