He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph F. Hawkins, Sr. and Virginia Hawkins; and his siblings, Helen Pauley, Dorothy Beasley, Ann Tucker and Joe Hawkins, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Lenora Fisher Hawkins (Tibby); his children, Sheila Smith (Mike Smith II) and Omer; his siblings, Robert Hawkins of Texas and Donna Adkins (Hawkins); his grandchildren, Justin Smith, Brandon Smith (Hawkins) and Caitlin Hawkins; his brother-in-law Motie Fisher (Jenny); his nieces, Amy Pierson, Mary Bordeau Fisher and Trena Adkins Baker; and his close friend Buck Skiles (Barbara). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
