He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Cox and Anna Mae Smith Cox; and his siblings, Jane Evans, Patricia Walker, Janice Cannon and Daniel Cox.

He is survived by: his wife Erma Cox; his children, Christy, Teliatha, Rebecca, James, Joshua, Allen and Eric; and his sisters, Charlene Davis, Edith Booker, Sandra Cox, Gloria Turner, Karen Fritz and Donna Reynard. He is also survived by several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
