He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harvey Stewart and Joan Stewart; his brother-in-law Timothy Palmer; and his nephew David Palmer. He is survived by: his siblings, Edward Ash of Thomas, WV, Kathryn Palmer, Reva and Kurt Stewart (Cindy); and his nieces and nephews, Tonja Pringle (Andy), Karen Ayersman (Lawrence), Heather Tichnell (Sean) and T. J. Stewart (Kelsie). He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and one great, great niece.
