With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Freeda James of Coal City, West Virginia, who passed away on December 5, 2025 at the age of 88. Though Freeda may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Freeda touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Bowling and Monnie Ramey Bowling; her husband Robert James; and her children, Harold D. James, Leroy James and Judy Ann James.
She is survived by: her children, Wiley R. James (Stella) of Epperly Hill, WV, Leslie A. James (Rob) of Sewickley, PA, Debra Owens of Coal City, WV and Patricia Herron (Ross) of Coal City, WV. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
