He was predeceased by: his father Kermit Okes; and his grandson Mikel Wilkinson. He is survived by: his wife Thelma Lilly Okes; his children, Tracy Okes (Lisa) of Cool Ridge and Teresa Skarlinski (Bob) of York, SC; his grandchildren, Amanda Garcia (Miguel), Jeffrey Wilkinson, Brantley Hedrick (Chip), Thomas Okes, Noah Wilkinson (Rachel Stewart), Hillary Cathey (Dave) and Danielle Skarlinski; his close friends, Cindy and Gary Flower; and his siblings, Diane Tabor (Elwood), Earl Okes (Barbara), Dennis Okes (Valerie), Guy Okes and Kathy Cox (Charles Pauley). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
A dedicated member of the Beaver Lions Club, he served three terms as president and was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest form of recognition bestowed by the Lions Club International Foundation.
