He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Martin and Helen Heilman Martin; his sister Janice Martin Poling; and his parents-in-law, Hank and Deloris Ferrell Blankenship.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Blankenship Martin; his children, Lori Shaffer (Paul), Lesley Ridenour (Shane) and David Jr. "DJ" Martin (Megan); his grandchildren, Keegan, Kaden Shaffer, Nathanael (Sarah), Nicolas Ridenour, Margaux and Madelyn Martin; and his siblings-in-law, Millie Gonzalez, Sherry Williams (Mike) and Paul Blankenship. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Little Union Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the West Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or HospiceCare of West Virginia.
