She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett Dillon and Mae Dillon (Sammons); the father of her children Thurman Marcum; her sons, Flem Messer, Jr. and Thurman Marcum, Jr.; her siblings, Helen Dillon and Albert Dillon; and her son-in-law Robert Gullion.

She is survived by: her children, Johnny Messer, Betty Gullion, James Marcum, Carol Kalou (Samh Kalou) and Mary Ann Robertson (Brad Robertson); her grandchildren, Robert Gullion, Dylan Robertson, Ava Robertson, Evan Robertson, Zane Kalou and Sami Kalou; and her sisters, Freda Messer, Alice Spaulding, Sarah Ann Spaulding, Belle Dora Messer and Carol Howard.
