She was predeceased by: her father Jack Toler; her grandparents, Jodie, Myrtle Green, Lovell and Doris Toler; her aunt Gladie Massey; and her uncle Paul S. Toler.
She is survived by: her mother Rhonda Toler of Wharton; her husband Gary; her children, Eden Strouth (Clinton) of South Charleston and Jackson Newsome (Sean) of Chicago, Illinois; her grandsons, Patrick Runion and Bentley Strouth; her close friend Sheryl Hunter; and her pets, Oscar, Emmy and Gus. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Shonda's memory be made to the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence or the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association.
