He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shepherd and Eliza Jane Shepherd (Dean); his son Robert Shepherd; and his siblings, Harold, Donald, Jimmy Shepherd and Thelma Cornett.
He is survived by: his former wife Sharon "Jean" Shepherd of Petersburg, WV.; his children, Melissa Ann Howard of Kentucky, Christopher Shepherd of Kentucky and Timothy Shepherd of Virginia; his sisters, Duretha Maxwell (James) of Wise, VA and Sue Shyman of Michigan; and his grandmother Lou Tworzydlo of Michigan. He is also survived by 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren.
