He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Clyde and Norma Marie Vanpelt Fortney; his brother Richard Lee Fortney; and his son Jeffery Fortney. He is survived by: his children, Donald Ray Fortney Jr. (Gwen) of Belington, Brian Fortney (Nicole) of Dry Fork, Dustin Fortney (Amanda) of Ellamore, Bethany Fortney of Philippi and Brittany Fortney (Nate) of Clarksburg; his siblings, Delmas Clyde Fortney (Evelyn) of Valley, Jerry Fortney (Connie) of Valley Head, Harold Fortney (Joan) of Belington, Billie Robinson (Rick) of Elkins, Mary Trickett (James) of Haywood, WV and Janet Louise Fortney Bennett (Howard) of Junior; and his girlfriend LeeAnn Heckler. He is also survived by several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
