Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Edward John Thaubald III (Elkins, West Virginia), who passed away at the age of 88, on February 18, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward John Thaubald, II and Pearl Kuh Thaubald; his former wife Muriel Lee Thaubald; and his wife Dorothy Ann Mero. He is survived by: his children, Edward John IV (Nancy) of Locust Grove, GA, William Lee (Stephannie) of Duluth, GA and Jamie Rush (Tim) of Fayetteville, GA; and his grandchildren, Avery and Owen.

“Not everyone is so lucky and fortunate to have a Godfather like the one I have had in Captain John Thaubald. Many stories with a life time of memories. We got him to the Hickory, N.C. air port museum to relay his adventures on record a couple of years ago. He was always welcome in our home and proud and honored to have him over the decades. He played bridge and cribbage with my father, who also past away a couple of months ago. He will be missed very much and I wish his family well. Mike Hadley”
