Jordan Corley wrote a sympathy message

“In loving memory of Jack Dempsey Painter, Someone so special will not be forgotten. My Great Uncle Dempsey as I remember him, was a adventurous and kind man. His open was always open when my family was able to visit. He could out-hike anyone in West Virginia's woods, as he proved to my Dad and I when we hiked to his shoot-house. I have a fond memory of going on a fishing outing to Wolf Creek, hiking through farmland with my Great Uncle, my Uncle Charlie, and my Dad to catch native brook trout.”

“R.I.P. to one of my best friends. Jack was an exemplary pier and role model among his immediate families, friends, and Cravensdale, Elkins, WV, community. He served his country with dignity and as an honorable, proud,, devoted American citizen and veteran. It was always a pleasure to know Jack was compassionate and always willing to lend a helping hand. Jack “Dempsey” Painter fought a hard enduring battle, a workaholic, and always greeted others with a smile. He will be sadly missed!”
