Jerry Lantz Sr., age 79, a resident of Elkins, WV., passed away from this life peacefully at his home while under the care of Adoration Hospice of Buckhannon, WV., with his family by his side on Thursday evening, July 23, 2026, he had in failing health. His laughter and kindness will be sorely missed, resonating in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share moments with him.

Jerry was born on March 8, 1947, in Philippi, WV., a son to the late Bob Lantz and Beatrice House.

He leaves behind his best friend and companion, Dena Mayle, who survives at their home in Elkins.

Jerry is survived by four sons; Dwayne Lantz, Jerry Lantz Jr., Thomas Lantz, and Jessie Lantz, two daughters; Frannie Lantz, and Michelle Lantz, three brothers; Robert Lantz, Woody Bennett, and Randy Bennett, two sisters; Bea Lantz, and Lena Lantz, twenty one grandchildren, and several great grandchildren including; Lenox, Paisley, Mason, Jackson, Ryker, and Lorelei, special friends, Kelly and Karri Carr, several nieces and nephews. Jerry Lantz will forever be remembered – a gentle soul who appreciated life's simplest pleasures, a reliable and loyal worker, and a treasured friend. May he rest in peace.

Preceding him in death besides his grandparents who raised Jerry was a brother; Toby Bennett.

Mr. Lantz was a Christian by faith; and he attended the schools Barbour County, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966, where he was awarded several medals, he exited the Marines in 1969 where his last rank was Sargant he was proud to serve our country during the Vietnam War. Jerry loved anything to do with nature and being outdoors whether it was hunting or fishing, and he loved watching animal planet channel on TV. He worked in Maintenance and as a Mechanic for many years. Jerry also loved watching Pro football his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. Throughout the years, he cultivated deep relationships, becoming a pillar of support and strength. Jerry exemplified a life of dedication and service, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the honor to know him.

Family and friends may gather at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 11am until 1pm the funeral hour with Pastor Lennie Minard Jr., officiating and his burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery where Military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps, and the Belington American Legion Post #96. The Kittle Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family with the arrangements.
