He was predeceased by: his parents, Corder Phillips, Jr. and Opal E. Myers Phillips; and his sisters, Judith Louise Phillips Helmick and Melodee Kay Phillips White. He is survived by: his spouse Kit Leyland; his sons, Michael John Phillips, II (Christina) of Richmond, KY and Christopher Daniel Phillips (Ryann) of Morgantown, WV.; his brother Bradley Dean Phillips (Debby); his grandchildren, Leyland Elizabeth Phillips and Parker Michael Phillips; his sibling's children, Thomas Helmick (Kim), Lorri Sobel (Charles), Mathew Helmick, John Wesley White, III, Mason Cereo (Bethany), Bradley Allen Phillips (Megan), Andrew E. Phillips (Berea), William E Morgan (Linda) and Laura C. Morgan; and his great-nephews, Edward Morgan (Lainey), William Morgan and Corder Helmick.
