He was predeceased by: his parents, Nannie Imogene Nester Ellis and Lee Ellis; and his siblings, Delano, Roy, Kent, Frank, Danny, Rhonda Mondel Ellis Smith, Joyce Ann Ellis Fanaza and Virginia Kathryn Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn June Elswick; his children, Lane Ellis Jr. (Karen) and June Ann Brown (late LeRoy); his sisters, Jean Brannon (Paul) of Dillsburg, PA, Martha Cox (late David) of Charleston, WV, Judy DePue (late Harold) of Winfield, WV and Shelia Minardi (Joey); his grandchildren, Krystal Brown Smith (Eric), Benjamin Lee Ellis (Chasity), Rebecca Ellis Babcock (Jeremiah) and Joshua Brian Ellis (Danielle); and his great grandchildren, Hunter Gregory Smith, Braxton Kiser Smith, Brianna Skyler Ellis, Caleb Levi Ellis, Gabriella Loren Ellis, Jackson Chase Babcock, Graham William Babcock, Derek Max Ellis, Ezra Logan Ellis, Nathan Ezekial Ellis, Evie Jane Ellis, Atlas Charles Ellis and Selah Loren Ellis.
