He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyddie Tanner and Bettie Tanner; his brother Thomas Tanner; and his children, Amy Tanner-Hammons and Michael Tanner.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Tanner; his sister Peggy Mitchell (Vincent); his son Maynard Tanner, Jr. (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Stephanie Tanner, Zachary Tanner (Karlie), Emilee Goff (Alex), Kristin Tanner, Megan Wilkinson (Geordie), Brandon Hammons (Autumn), Amiee Tanner (Layne), Brooke Tanner, Ethan, Logan, Romie, Lakynn and Sawyer; and his great grandchildren, Bryson Goff, Austyn Tanner, Averal Goff, Beau Tanner, Cohen Hammons and Greylyn Davis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
