She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence B. Brown and Anna Shackleford Brown; her husband James E. Messenger; her daughter Rebecca "Becca" Messenger; and her daughter-in-law Vickie Messenger.
She is survived by: her sons, James O. (Suzanne Messenger) of Fairmont and Brian J. Messenger (Lisa Maple); her grandchildren, Leandra (Dennis Lee Perkins, III) and Dylan Messenger (Michaela Ice); her stepgrandchildren, Amanda Dillow and John Dillow; and her great grandchildren, Aubrey Wilson, Bentley Wilson, Kaydee Perkins, Dennis Lee Perkins, IV, Mercedes Rizer, Wyatt Cross and Isaiah Dillow.
