He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy "Pep" Hall and Elizabeth "Libby" Saurborn Hall; his former wife Nancy Pogue Saurborn; his son Kenneth Joe Saurborn; his grandparents, Ervin, Edna Hawkins, Henry and Frona Saurborn; and his siblings, Gary Saurborn and Janice Brownfield.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Rose Saurborn of Mannington; his children, Mary Elizabeth Saurborn of Florida and James David Saurborn (Christine) of North Carolina; his daughter-in-law Sandra Hayes Saurborn of Fairmont; his brother Roger Saurborn (Linda) of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Shaun Saurborn (Julie) of Illinois, Dustin Saurborn (Nikki) of Morgantown, Garrett Saurborn (Shaina) of Morgantown, Kayla Saurborn-Brooks of Florida and Sarah Tennant (Brian) of Fairmont; his great grandchildren, Kyson, Jaxon, Kase, Ty and Eli; his stepchildren, John, Jr. Rose (Kimberly) of Hepzibah, Vicky Mauller (Patrick) of Fairmont, Douglas Rose of Morgantown, Matthew Rose (Amber) of Shinnston and Brandon Rose of Fairmont; and his sister-in-law Karen Heflin of Clarksburg.
