It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence Raymond Brooks (Fairmont, West Virginia), who passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 57, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie Louanna Brooks and Howard Frederick Brooks, Sr.; his aunt Josephine Mack; his stepbrother Gerald Trotter; and his parents-in-law, Mercyre Sumlin and Alonzo Floyd Sumlin (Evelyn Shriver).
He is survived by: his cousins, Charles "Chuckie" Mack of Akron, Paul Mack, Sr. and Howard Mack; his caregiver Kimberly Brooks; his children, Kala Brooks and Kameron Brooks (Hailey) of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Blake Anthony Brooks, Jay Christopher Brooks and Malayah Mercyre Brooks; his stepmother Norma Brooks; his stepsister Sherry Trotter of Buffalo; his brothers, Howard Brooks, Jr. and Joe "Pete" Brooks (Gina); his uncle Charles "Butch" Yeater (Napoleon Brooks) of Fairmont; his half-brothers, Martin Brooks of Fairmont and Anthony Brooks-Clarke of Arkansas; and his close friends, Nate Walker of Dallas, Texas, Dave Shriver of Worthington, Terry Abrams of Canton, Ohio, Gary of Fairmont, Kimberly Fleming of Fairmont, Alvin Turner of Fairmont, Mary Quarterman of Fairmont, Greg Pratt of Fairmont, Darnell Anthony of Fairmont, Danny Spitznogle of Fairmont, Jason Hayes of Fairmont and Ronnie Campbell of Grafton, WV. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Agape Life Ministries (609 Bellview Blvd, Fairmont, WV 26554).
