He was predeceased by: his parents, Orman L. Bowyer and Jean Athella Morris Bowyer; his son David Martin of San Diego; his grandchild Maverick Bowyer; and his sister Helen Jeanne Mack.

He is survived by: his wife Faith Ann Martin Bowyer; his sons, Richard Mark of Fairmont and John Walter of Pittsburgh; his grandchildren, Kyle Bowyer, Holly Alevito (Sam), Whitney Bowyer, Danielle Bowyer and Bella Bowyer; his great grandchildren, Lorilei Alevito and Millie Alevito; and his sister Kay Houston of Brick, NJ. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Domico Funeral Home (414 Gaston Ave, Fairmont, WV 26554). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (301 Jackson St, Fairmont, WV 26554).

He started the Methodist Campus Ministry at West Liberty College and served as Campus Minister for the Wesley Foundation at Fairmont State University from 1962 until his retirement in 2005.
