He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Ira Knisely and Ruby Doris Price Knisely; his wife Toni Marie Shaffer Knisely; his daughters, Carol Smith, Debbie Hawkins, Tammy Bledsoe, Patricia Haupt and Tina Huey; and his sister Janet Leeson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kimmi (Kenny Cole) and Shelby (Jamie Kuhn); his brother George; his sister-in-law Shirley Knisely of Martinsburg, WV; his sister Doris; his brother-in-law Ed Gump of Mannington, WV; his stepson Gregory David of Fairmont, WV; and his sons-in-law, Randy Smith of Wellington and Ernie Haupt of Elyria. He is also survived by several grandchildren & great grandchildren.
