He is survived by: his wife Alice V. Gettel (Socks); his sons, John Walter Gettel, II (Debbie) and Aaron Eugene Gettel; his stepdaughter Cindy Karn (George); his sisters, Donna Hewitt (Charles) and Julie Bricker; and his grandchildren, Michele Unger, Ryan Brady, Adam Brady, Allison Gettel, Ayrika Gettel, Aaron Gettel, Jason Gettel and Alyssa Gettel. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
